This hat utilizes high-impact-absorbing, breathable and elastic hollow polyethylene beads as cushioning material, ensuring optimal protection and comfort for users.

With over 30 years of experience in welfare product design and development, Japan’s "Tokushu Clothing Co., Ltd." teamed up with the crash safety team from the "Japan Automobile Research Institute" (JARI) to create the abonet head protection helmet. After years of joint development and numerous impact tests using different cushioning materials, they chose hollow polyethylene beads for their high shock absorption, breathability, and elasticity, making them ideal for this protective helmet series.

Introduction to Head Injury Criterion (HIC)

The term "serious injury risk" refers to the likelihood of sustaining injuries that are classified as serious or more severe, such as arterial damage, brain injury, cerebellar injury, brainstem injury, intracranial hematoma, and skull fractures.
HIC (Head Injury Criterion) Overview
HIC is a numerical value that represents the level of injury to the brain or skull when subjected to impact. This criterion is used to assess the safety of passengers during car crashes and to set safety standards for head protection, such as when children fall from playground equipment.
For example, when the head is subjected to an impact with an HIC value of 2000, the risk of severe injury is 100%. (See the diagram for reference.) When the HIC value is reduced from 2000 to 1000, the risk of severe injury is halved. The abonet brand evaluates the impact absorption performance of its products using the HIC, providing consumers with information and continuously improving product design.
HIC Measurement Method
【Test Equipment】
The body is made of H-beam steel, and the head and neck are simulated using a dummy (Hybrid III 50th percentile male dummy).
The setup has a total mass of 47.8 kg, and the rotation center to the top of the head is approximately 1500 mm (representing the average height and weight of a 70-year-old Japanese male: 1.065 m in height and 59.3 kg in weight).
【Test Conditions】
The dummy is dropped at an angle of about 15 degrees from a height of 900 mm onto a collision surface (under conditions where the HIC value without a helmet is 2000). The HIC value is calculated from the head's three-axis acceleration, and the impact is tested at various points on different products.
【Note】
While abonet helmets can mitigate impacts, they do not completely absorb all shocks or fully protect the head from injury.
Instructions for Use
The denim fisherman-style head protection hat features concealed pockets at the top and sides where removable cushioning pads are placed. These pads can be taken out for washing. The outer material of the hat is treated with photocatalytic technology, which helps remove stains, odors, and provides antibacterial protection.
